Fixing dell's power supply adapter

Dada que se a roto mi adaptador dell despues del año de vida, lo tuve que arreglar. Aca van los pasos que use.

1- Get a good razor to open the cage, this is fundamental not to broke it.

This part took me like an hour and half, but ir can be done. I have to 'cut' the plastic ir order to keep it in one piece.

2- Identify the problem. My problem was that the adapter wasn't mounted well. So the cable touch itself and start heating. After 1 year it was enough to melt it. YES this was dangerous! You can see it here.

3- Fix it. In my situation the best thing was to sold the wires. Note that I do not cut or add any other wire. I really try to keep things as close as the orginal as I could. So just soldering what was burned seems to be the best. Everything is so close that I have to keep my hands off most of the time.

4- After testing it while still open I close it again with a really good glue. Here I use one called "La gotita" that is a very fast and strong transparent contact glue.

5- Just to be sure it will live long enough I add a kind of plastic protector to the external wire. I use a paper folder plastic spiral.

6- Use it with care!!!

cheers
